The CR is situated in the heart of Europe. It borders on Germany in the west, Austria on the south, Slowakia in the east and Poland in the north. The population in the CR is over 10 milion people. The capital of our country is Prague. It is the center of history, economy, industry and political life. It is the sead of our president and government.
Geography
The CR lies in the very heart of Europe. From all the sides except the south of Moravia the country is protected mountains: the Beskydy Mountains, the Jeseníky Mountains, the Orlické Mountains, the Grant Mountains with the highst peak in Bohemia (Snowdon), the Jizerské Mountains, the Krušné Mountains, Czech Forest and the
Šumava. The CR hasn´t any seas but one well-konwn river the Elbe - flowing from Eastern Bohemia through Germany to the North Sea. Then there are sme other rivers, e. g. the Vltava river or Moravia river.

Industry
The CR isn´t rich in row materials, many resources have been already exhausted. Brown coal is mined in surface mines. The black coal is mined in deep mines. In spite of the fact that the supply of iron ore and other materials are very small, heavy industry play a key role in Czech economy. China is produced in Karlovy Vary
It is konwn all over the world. Zlín is the center of shoe indurstry. Znojmo is the center of wine district.
Culture
We have long and famous cultural traditions. Kin Charles the forth founded university in Prague in 1348, it is one of the oldest universties in Europe. There are many pernament professional theatres. The best ones are e. g. the National theatre, the New Scene and the theatre of Vinohrady
